Educational programs in interior architecture focus primarily on creativity which plays a vital role in creating a caring, friendly and welcoming atmosphere supported by artistic-academic-social activities. These objectives are expected to enable students to have an outlook on life that will enable them to approach issues from different perspectives.

Distinguishing Attributes

In addition to a well-organized educational program, it is also important to set up an environment that comprises artistic-academic-social activities. For this reason, regular meetings have been materialized with other universities to exchange ideas. Meanwhile, artistic activities that support the concept of interior space, that aim at abstract thinking to increase creativity (e.g., paper-making, print-making, ceramics, etc.) have been highly adopted. In addition to these, routine professional/social trips, and industry-university collaboration have been organized. When all these combine with the location of EMU on an island touched by heaven, the students are supported by an excellent background that motivates the clues for inventing creative ideas of design.

International Art Meetings are held in spring semesters, and have become a traditional organization. Besides the academic organizations, Department of Interior Architecture attaches considerable significance to the social activities as well. In this respect, traditional Costume Parties are arranged every December in order to celebrate the coming of the New Year. Since Interior Architecture is based on visual themes, technical and cultural trips to different places are organized every year in order to widen the perspective of the students.

Department Facilities

Photography, model making, computer, ceramic, construction and materials laboratories, as well as the well-equipped studios enable the students to get the best they can from this education. There is a constant increase in the number of our students, but this does not prevent individual attention from being given to each and every one of them. There is incredible warmth in the student-academic staff relationship. The undergraduate and graduate programs are designed to qualify the students with degrees ranging from B.Int.Arch to Ph.D. which are supported by developed research facilities including technical equipment, Internet and a well-stocked library.

Quality of Graduates

Job Opportunities

The importance of interior architecture is increasing day after day due to the fact that the interiors of buildings are subject to change more than their exteriors. An interior architect can create a better use of old or new buildings by creating spatial organization designs. Interior architects can work at design studios or architectural offices with a team consisting of an architect-- interior architect--civil engineer and members of other related professions to create a new building. Showrooms, fair- exhibitions, bazaars, stage-screens, and furniture designs are some of the opportunities where an interior architect can demonstrate his or her skills.
