What are the minimum requirements for undergraduate admission?
An overseas undergraduate applicant (1) who holds a Higher Secondary School Certificate/Diploma or its equivalence (2) can apply to the undergraduate programmes.
(1) An applicant whose nationality is not TRNC (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus) or Republic of Turkey.
(2) The University considers the following certificates / documents as the equivalence of Higher Secondary School Certificate / Diploma.
- 3 “Advanced” level and 1 “Ordinary” level GCE/GSCE/IGCSE results
- 2 “Advanced” level and 3 “Ordinary” level GCE/GSCE/IGCSE results
- 1 “Advanced” level and 6 “Ordinary” level GCE/GSCE/IGCSE results
- 8 “Ordinary” level GCE/GSCE/IGCSE results that have been obtained at the end of 12 years of Secondary Education (Class 12)
N.B : 2 “Subsidiary Advanced” level subjects are equal to 1 “Advanced” level subject.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED WHEN APPLYING
Prospective applicants are required to
- Fill and sign the “ Undergraduate Admission Application Form ” that can be obtained from our web-site , Registrar's Office or Liaison Offices .
- Get ready the following documents:
- Photocopies of your Higher Secondary School Certificate/Diploma * and academic record / mark sheets *
* English translations of these documents are necessary if they are in any language other than English.
- Two photographs (approximately size : 3.5 X 4.5)
- Two letters of reference (one must be academic)
- Evidence of Financial Status (A letter from a bank indicating that you or your family can support your expenses in North Cyprus)
- Photocopy of your passport

Students who can not demonstrate their English Proficiency level are required to sit for the English Proficency Test conducted by EMU School of Foreign Language in September. Students who can not obtain a passing mark are admitted to the School of Foreign Languages at the EMU to improve their English for one or two semesters.

Evaluation of your Application
As soon as your application is received, it is evaluated by the Registrar's Office. The result is forwarded either to your postal address or to your agency. Incomplete application forms are not taken into consideration. The evaluation of an application normally takes 3 working days. An acceptance letter is posted to the postal address of eligible applicants and reject letter to the applicant whose academic qualifications are not sufficient. You will also receive following documents with the acceptance letter:
- List of the documents that are essential for registration and important dates
- Information for Visa and Travel
- Bank details
- Application Form for Complimentary Pick-Up Service.
What to do when the acceptance letter is received?
As soon as you receive your acceptance letter, please follow the steps below:
- Go to a bank, preferable HSBC Bank, to transfer the full amount of semester fee (indicated on your acceptance letter) into the following bank account and get a Money Transfer Receipt / Reference. Please make sure the net amount of the tuýtýon fee is paid and bank transfer expenses are not deducted.

- If there is any, go to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus ( TRNC) Representative Office ( www.trncinfo.com ) to get visa for North Cyprus with the following documents. T hen apply to the Turkish Embassy or Consulate with your TRNC VISA together with the following documents:
If there is no TRNC Representative Office in your country, directly go to Turkish Embassy or Consulate to get a transit-visa for Turkey with the following documents. Please visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs web site at www.mfa.gov.tr for the closest Turkish Embassy to your area.
- Your acceptance letter from Eastern Mediterranean University
- The Money Transfer Receipt / Reference.
- Your original academic diplomas / certificates.
- Your Passport
N.B: All flights to North Cyprus are connected through ISTANBUL / Turkey (ATATURK AIRPORT). Therefore you need a Transit-Visa for Turkey even your final destination is North Cyprus (ERCAN or GECITKALE Airport)
- Fill and sign the “Application Form for Pick-Up Service” and fax it to one of the fax numbers indicated on the form minimum 3 days before your flight.
N.B:
- The most convenient connection flights to North Cyprus are through Istanbul Ataturk Airport. You are advised to arrange your flight to ERCAN Airport, North Cyprus through Istanbul Ataturk Airport. Major airlines are Cyprus Turkish Airlines www.kthy.net and Turkish Airlines www.thy.com.tr .
- All students need to show the acceptance letter of the Eastern Mediterranean University and the money transfer receipt of the full amount of the semester fee from the bank at the ports when asked . Otherwise, they might not be allowed to enter into the country.
Meeting at the Ercan / Geçitkale Airport, North Cyprus
The Student Ambassador Program takes place from end of August to end of September and is free of charge . Students are picked up from the airport / harbours and are escorted to their accomodations. An Application Form for Free pick-up service is posted to the address of accepted applicants. Beside, this form can be obtained from the EMU web site and from EMU Liaison Offices. Students who would like to use this program should fill in the free pick-up service forms and send them to the following fax numbers at least four days prior their arrival to North Cyprus:

Eastern Mediterranean University also organizes Orientation Week Program for new students. All students and parents are welcome to attend these social and cultural events free of charge.
The EMU Student Handbook is also distributed free to inform and guide students throughout the academic year. It is recommended that students contact the EMU Dormitories Office before they arrive to North Cyprus to avoid any accommodation problems due to limited rooms available in the dormitories. It is also recommended to be prepared for unforeseen expenses and emergencies.
COMPLETING YOUR REGISTRATION
In order to complete your registration you should go to Registarar's Office with the following original documents. Each applicant must fýll and sign the Registration Form on the time of registration. Original Secondary High School Diploma or GCE/ GCSE/ IGCSE Certificates
- Original Mark Sheets or Transcripts, Certifcates
- A Bank Guarantee Letter
- Reference Letter(s)
- Twelve (12) photographs (approximately 4cm. x 6 cm.)
- A photocopy of your passport
- An official English Translation of the diploma
- The tuition fee receipt from bank
