Eastern Mediterranean University II. Sand Statue Festival and Competition . 

The first being done last year with a lot of attention and demand for the next one to happen, II. Sand Statue and Festival was held on 26th of May 2007 at EMU Beach Club between 10:00-20:00. This year the festival was organised with the contributions of EMU Architecture Faculty, Fine Arts Club of the Activity Center and Famagusta Municipality. There were 80 groups who attended the festival from Near East University, Kyrenia American University, Middle East Technical University at the Northern Cyprus and other individual groups as well as groups from Eastern Mediterranean University. It was pleasing to see about two thousand people watching the festival from all over the island. The jury of the festival consisted of Prof. İbrahim Numan, Prof. Uğurcan Akyüz, Assoct. Prof Uğur Dağlı, Assist. Prof Şepnem Hoşkara, Assoc. Prof. Guita Farivarsadri, Assist. Prof. Senih Çavusoğlu and Sen. Inst. Serhat Selışık. At the competition, International Gomma’s from EMU, GAU09 from KAU and Chicos De La Arena from METU recieved their awards. Awards were also given to Faculties of Architecture, Interior Architecture, St. Mark Cafe, NEU Fine Arts Faculty and two children groups for their creativity. The award winners also recieved dinner award from Venus Beach Hotel. The Festival lasted until late at night with barbecue and beach party, thus the atendees lived an unforgetable day.
