EMU Came Back with 6 International Awards from Kemer.
6th International Kemer Underwater Days was held in Kemer between 17-20 May with the participation of many Turkish and foreign guests. There was also a memorial ceremony held at the festival for Haluk Cecan, who we lost on 8th of February. Co-chairman of the festival Hakan Oniz who is from EMU and Kemer Promotion Association organized the festival. There were scientists, underwater cameraman and photographers, academicians and representatives from civil society from 17 different countries participated at the festival.
Inkilap Obruk, Chair of TSSF Board, delivered his speech after the opening ceremony. He emphasized the re-structuring of the underwater world with the federation. The developments in underwater filming and research have been significant he said. He sent his condolences about the death of Haluk Cecan and rephrased how he was a great loss to the underwater filming and research. He stated the importance of friendship amongst the people in the underwater. He also emphasized the awards won by the Turkish groups in this field. He congratulated
Alptekin Baloğlu for being the thousandth in the world. He continued his speech by phrasing how research underwater have gained importance in Turkey and people are now showing a lot of interest to this field. He concluded his speech by saying that operations that had started as training have now shifted to a scientific research.
The scientific research part of the activity was opened by TSSF Chair Inkilap Obruk at Akdeniz University on 17th of May. The approval of the “Underwater Research Center” was established with the contributions of EUIFA by Akdeniz University Senate.
