EMU is hosting the “International Marketing Congress”
EMU is hosting the only and the most significant “International Marketing Congress”. Based on information released from the University, the congress has been regularly held in a different city in Turkey since 1995, and the tenth congress was organized by the Department of Business Administration of Eastern Mediterranean University.
The Organizing Chair of the Marketing Congress, Assist. Prof. Dr Mustafa Tümer said more than 60 academics coming from 24 different universities in Turkey will be at the congress.
Dr.Tümer also added that academics from countries other than Turkey, and from universities in Kirghizistan and the TRNC would present scientific papers on international marketing followed up by discussions.
Tümer said the international marketing strategies and applications conducted by some of the international companies will be discussed in a separate session; therefore businessmen from Turkey and the TRNC will also attend the congress.
“International marketing” is the main theme of the 10 th Marketing Congress. Tümer said “work carried out in the field of international marketing would contribute tremendously to the lifting of the isolations imposed on the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, and help the TRNC stand on its own feet as an independent, modern and prosperous country with a high level of income.”
“When academicians gather together and meet and exchange ideas, such a situation not only contributes to science but also to the educational development of the young academics. Organizing scientific meetings and bringing people from the area is one of the primary duties of the institutions of learning.”
“The increase in all levels of international marketing brings not only opportunities but also threats to almost every country. Economic and political integration, World Trade Organization centered mobility efforts, cooperation among global companies, expansionist strategies of local firms, and increase in communication facilities enhance both the opportunities and the threats.”
Tümer reminded that EMU Department of Business Administration has hosted many national and international conferences, and added it was a great pride and honor for them to be able to organize and host the International Marketing Congress.
The Congress Opening Dinner will be at the Palm Beach Hotel on November 17, 2005 with the participation of President Mehmet Ali Talat. EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Halil Güven will give a closing dinner in honor of the congress participants on November 18, 2005 Friday at the EMU Beach Club.
