EMU Architecture Students are back from a Visit to Italy

Assist. Prof. Dr. Özgür Dinçyürek, one of the faculty members in the Faculty of Architecture of Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), arranged a visit to Italy with his students as part of the History of Architecture III (ARCH 121) course, and called the visit “International Technical Trip: Italy”.

According to the information released from EMU, during the October 29- November 6 visit, students grabbed the opportunity to virtually see the theoretical information that they had acquired in classes. Among the objectives of the visit were to observe the real life examples of theory based knowledge, to experiment and to lead to mutual discussions. Dr. Dinçyürek pointed out that Venice, Florence, Siena and Rome were visited; buildings, monuments, internal and external spaces were inspected.

The students also found the opportunity to present their research findings on the actual site and discuss the results of their findings with their friends. Students had some free time so as to concentrate on their own areas of interest. Thus they had the chance not only to learn the historical heritage but to experience the culture and life in the towns.

Dr. Dinçyürek emphasized that the advantages gained from such an experience were invaluable and added all the students tried their best to contribute to the success of the visit since it was the first ever to be organized by the Department of Architecture.

Dinçyürek pointed out that this visit was materialized within the framework of the collaboration protocol among European Universities Association, and added the University of Florence played a major role in making this visit become a reality.

The visit, explained Dr. Dinçyürek, was highly beneficial to all the students who joined the tour adding such organizations will continue in the future as EMU’s full membership status in the EUA facilitated the organization of such academic undertakings.
